GBHS baseball sweeps Buffs

GARDEN CITY — Great Bend combined solid pitching and defense for a stunning doubleheader sweep of Garden City 3-1 and 4-3. The defending Western Athletic Conference champions rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the nightcap.

PANTHERS 3, BUFFALOES 1 — Crafty righthander Bryce Lytle worked out of trouble and pitched a complete game, exceeding the 105-pitch count on the game’s final batter.
The Panthers scored two first-inning runs. Lytle reached base on a error in centerfield. Payton Mauler’s triple brought home Lytle and Mauler scored when the right fielder misplayed the ball for a 2-0 lead.
