Improvements coming to Main

Work on two stretches of Main Street to be done this year

The intersection at 19th and Main will be the starting point for a portion of Main to see improvements.

The Great Bend City Council Monday night accepted the low bid from Venture Corporation for work on Main Street.
The bid, in the amount of $515,358.50, is for the 2017 KLINK (Kansas Connecting Links) project. This consists of a mill and overlay of Main Street from 10th Street to the south city limits, and from 19th to 24th, City Administrator Howard Partington said.
The KLINK project is a 50/50 percent matching funds program through the Kansas Department of Transportation, Partington said. KDOT will offer up to $300,000 for the work.
