Hoisington overwhelmed by Phillipsburg in Class 3A

HOISINGTON — No. 1 ranked Phillipsburg outscored Hoisington 28-0 after halftime for a 35-6 Class 3A second round football playoff victory. The Panthers (11-0) play at Hesston (8-3) in next week’s quarterfinals.
Hoisington tailback Sean Urban scored on a 35-yard touchdown and rushed for 89 yards on 20 carries. Urban rushed for 79 first-half yards. Cardinal Eric Barrett intercepted a pass.
Hoisington (7-4) lost a home playoff game for the first time since 2008 when it lost to Beloit 52-20. Hoisington’s senior class finished with a school record 39-8 mark.
