Cardinals, Indians to meet in softball

HOISINGTON — It’s an old-fashioned softball rivalry renewed when Larned (10-10) and Hoisington-Central Plains (10-10) meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Logan Field. The Cardinals beat Larned 20-1 after the Indians won the opener 7-4 April 24.
Larned pitcher Mattie Glover and Hoisington pitcher Taylor Boxberger are experienced pitchers.
Top-seeded Smoky Valley (11-9) meets Nickerson (0-20) at 3 p.m. Monday. The Vikings beat Nickerson 16-3 and 16-9 during the season. Hoisington swept Smoky Valley 7-5 in extra innings and 12-8. The Vikings picked up forfeit wins over Larned.
