Steven O. Warner 1952-2011

GREAT BEND — Steven Oliver Warner, 58, died March 28 at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
He was born September 2, 1952, at St. Louis, Mo., the son of Kenneth Morris and Rubye Estes (Young) Warner.
In October 1974, he met his future wife, Cindy Rasmussen. They were married eight months later on June 21, 1975. They had three children in St. Louis before moving in 1983 to their longtime home in Great Bend. He was an accountant and rental manager for Harper Builders during his 27 years in Great Bend.
He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was currently attending Grace Community Church. He was a member of the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing on the computer, photography, snorkeling, playing basketball and finding deals. He helped coach his children’s sports and was integral in starting the Golden Belt Lightning Bolts.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Warner, of the home; father, Kenneth Warner, Great Bend; two sons, Kevin Warner and wife, Stephanie, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Jeremy Warner and wife, Megan, Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter: Diane Guthrie and husband, Jeremy, Great Bend; three brothers, Gregory Warner and wife, Trudy, St. Louis, Mo.; Mark Warner and wife, Linda, Chicago; and Matthew Warner and wife, Kathy, Toledo, Ohio; mother-in-law: Velma Rasmussen, Colby; five grandchildren, Jaci Guthrie, Addison Guthrie, Emmaline Warner, Sophia Warner and Chase Warner.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rubye E. Warner; two sisters-in-law, Pat Warner and Laurie Warner; and father-in-law, Vic Rasmussen.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Grace Community Church, Great Bend, with officiant Pastor Roy Savage. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at the Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Central Kansas Christian Academy or the Orphan Grain Train, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
