Joseph G. Buehler 1937 - 2011

KANSAS CITY, MO. — Joseph G. Buehler, 73, a resident of Kansas City, Mo., passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease on April 21 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyrood on Dec. 7, 1937, to Carl and Georgia (Dressler) Buehler. He was a graduate of Claflin High School. In 1959, he married Darlene Redetzke in Dubuque.

Joe’s career in the automotive industry started in Great Bend, with Sears. He was transferred to Joplin, Mo., in 1968 and then to Kansas City in 1971. He was also employed with Bumper to Bumper Stores before becoming a part owner of APA Automotive. He was also involved in many automotive organizations including MO-KAN Automotive Parts Association where he served as president. Joe retired from APA in 1999.

Joe was an avid golfer, enjoying the game on numerous courses throughout the area. He also enjoyed their condo at the Lake of the Ozarks where he enjoyed being on his boat with family and friends, especially the 4th of July weekend. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and Pope John Paul I Knights of Columbus Council No. 7199 of Parkville.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carl Buehler and Georgia Squires, his stepfather Don Squires and brothers, Marlin and Harlan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene; four sons, Doug Buehler, Darrin Buehler and wife Lori, and Derek Buehler and wife, Lori all of Kansas City, and David Buehler and wife Lisa, Lansing; and a daughter, Debra Bryson and husband Brad of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Aaron Buehler, Jacob Buehler, Colby Buehler and Joshua Buehler of Kansas City Mo., and Kyle Buehler of Lansing; granddaughters, Kristin Buehler, Bethany Buehler, Molly Buehler, Alicia Buehler and Olivia Buehler of Kansas City; Kayla Buehler of Lansing; and Seneca Bryson and Siana Bryson of Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at St. Therese Church, with the Rev. Michael Roach as celebrant. A graveside service and burial will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Claflin Cemetery in Claflin. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
