Harvey John Miller 1915 - 2011

RUSSELL — Harvey John Miller, 95, of Russell, died on Sunday at the Russell Regional Hospital Emergency Room. Born on Sept. 2, 1915, in Bushton, he was the son of George B. and Anna L. (Miller) Miller. During his childhood, he grew up in Bushton and graduated from Bushton High School in 1934. After high school he attended Wichita Business College and after graduating Business College he took correspondence courses in higher accounting. While living in Wichita, he worked for a chain of cafes as a bookkeeper for three years. In 1939, he moved to Russell where he was hired as a bookkeeper for R. C. Williams Trucking. On June 4, 1939, he married Esther E. Dietz in Russell. Harvey worked for R. C. William Trucking as a bookkeeper for six years then later took a driver position with them until he retired.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Faith Community Church in Great Bend for many years.

Survivors include his daughter Suzanne Hall of Chester, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther; and a daughter, Ora June Sutton.

A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with Pastor Fred Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary with family to greet visitors from 6-7 p.m. Condolences and cards may be sent in care of the mortuary.
