Highway work in Pawnee County

POSTED June 9, 2011 11:47 a.m.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin an asphalt construction project in Pawnee County Thursday morning. Work will be done on the surface of U.S. 183, between the intersection with U.S. 56 and the intersection with K-156 Highway.
This 12-mile long project will involve two separate work processes. The first work under way will be a two inch hot inplace asphalt recycle process, which will be followed one week later by an emulsified asphalt surface seal. Each of these processes will involve a work zone that will move daily.
Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot car, so drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Work will be done during daylight hours only.
There will be a 12-foot width restriction in the work zone, so vehicles with widths wider that 12 feet will need to use an alternate route.
Highway construction project locations and road condition information can be viewed at the website.
This highway construction project is scheduled to be completed by the end of July, depending on delays due to weather conditions.
Dustrol Inc. of Towanda is the prime contractor.
