Jacobs wins

WICHITA — Austin Jacobs, a junior-to-be and a tennis player at Great Bend High School, took in the 2011 Kansas Novice Tournament of Champions on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Wichita Country Club.
The invitational was a singles-only tournament for players who had reached the finals (taken first or second) at a Kansas Novice tournament.
Jacobs won first place in the tournament Playing in the 16-year-old division, Jacobs played Colin Haney, from Burden, in the first round, winning 8-3.
In the second round, he defeated Isaac Penner, of Newton, 8-4. In the finals, he defeated Andover’s Matthew Rochat, 8-1.
