You can come home again especially when you have an invitation.
Susan Stambaugh, Great Bend High School vocal music teacher, is inviting all former variety show performers to participate in the Variety Show Reprise set for 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the high school auditorium. Anyone wishing to perform should talk directly with her.
“It’s not too late to participate in the reunion variety show,” said Stambaugh, who is acting as the show’s coordinator. “Please email me (susan.stambaugh@usd428.net) or call me if you have ideas for skits like the cowbell, sofa skit or lawn chair brigade ... any of the things that made you laugh over the last 40 years.”
The auditorium will be available if someone wants to practice from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3; 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5; and 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.
It is very important to have a time to block and have sound check on Saturday morning, Oct.  8, she said. Times are available in 15-minute increments from approximately 8:30 to noon. Please call 793-1521, ext. 138 to sign up for a time.
“If you absolutely cannot come in that morning, there will need to be information exchanged some other way,” Stambaugh said.
The afternoon of Oct. 8 is the designated dress rehearsal from 3-4 p.m. Performers will be informed of the order on Saturday morning when they come in to block their act.
Tickets may be purchased for $4 in the vocal music room on Oct. 6 and 7 from 7-8 a.m. and  noon to 1 p.m. and at the door. The tickets will NOT be reserved seating. The original directors, Joe Boley and Phil Szajunuk, will be in attendance, as well as other directors including Jenny Allford and Mark Webster. The show should last approximately one hour with a reception following in the commons area so that those performing and those attending can visit.
Ron Mink, former band instructor, will be available through Skype.
“Everyone says ‘you can’t go home,’ but you really can this time,” Stambaugh said. “Please come and celebrate 40 great years of shows with us.”
