Floyd Clarence Sanko 1931-2011

GREAT BEND — Floyd Clarence Sanko, 80, died Sept. 28, 2011 at his home in Great Bend.
He was born Aug. 3, 1931 at Hodgeman County, Kansas, the son of Edward and Mary (Schinstock) Sanko.
He married Rosemary Burke Nov. 24, 1952 at Dodge City. He ended his career with Sanko Motors of Spearville in 1956 and moved to Great Bend to establish Sanko’s Service, Inc. He was also a former owner of Reed Testing, Inc.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council Post No. 862; and the Sand Hills Gun Club. He was devoted to his church, family and business.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Sanko, of the home; three sons: Kenton D. Sanko and wife Anita, Great Bend; Gerald E. Sanko and wife Michele, Rogers, Ark.; and Stanley W. Sanko, Dodge City; a daughter, Cynthia M. Sanko, Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Wilbert Sanko  and wife Imogene, Ellinwood; seven grandchildren: Nicole Sanko, Natalie Sanko, Noelle Sanko, all of Rogers, Ark.; Annie Sanko,  Overland Park;, Sally Sanko, Lawrence; Macie Sanko, Emporia; and Aaron Sanko, Great Bend.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
A vigil service with a Knights of Columbus Rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30 at the Bryant Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Officiant Father Reginald A. Urban. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30 at the Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the CKMC Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center or Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the Bryant Funeral Home.
