DODGE CITY — Great Bend High School girls’ tennis captured second place in the team standings over the host school on Monday at the DCHS.
Morgan Francis and Stephanie Langer were second-place finisher in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, to lead Great Bend. Both individuals finished with 3-1 records.
“Both singles players played well all day,” Great Bend head coach Shannon Schartz said.
In No. 1 doubles play, Brianna Schartz and Jami McVay tied for second place, while Becca Brining and Kenzie Sinclair did the same in No. 2 doubles.
“The team showed a lot of character by staying strong and winning two tiebreakers in the last round of the day,” Schartz said. “That enabled the team to take second place over Dodge City.
“Both doubles teams had rocky starts but bounced back to finish strong.”
