Ellinwood scores in debate

ELLINWOOD —At the TMP-Marian Monarch Invitational debate tournament on Nov. 5, Ellinwood High School novice debaters Shiani Hughes, Tawny Arndt, and Rachel Schloctermeier won the novice division with a perfect 5-0 record. Hughes was also named top novice speaker in the tournament.

The varsity team of Connor Birzer and Hannah Maddy placed 6th with a 3-2 record. The pairs of Jenna Snell/Hannah Billinger and Jenna Collins/Megan Orndoff also went 3-2 in the open division.

Five EHS Debaters (Birzer, Maddy, Snell, Billinger, and Collins) now have high enough winning percentages to qualify them for state competition in January. The ...
