Lowry elected Area 6 KAY president

HOISINGTON — Hoisington High School and Hoisington Middle School KAY members attended the Regional KAY Conference on Nov. 7 at Goddard. At the conference, HHS student Olivia Lowry was elected to serve as Area 6 KAY president. Candidates for this position gave a speech and answered an impromptu question. She will preside over future conferences and lead sessions at the KAY Leadership Camp this summer. Area 6 includes 40 KAY clubs from the south-central portion of Kansas.

At the conference, the Hoisington High School received the gold award, recognizing their student leadership and service to their school, community, nation and world for the 2010-11 school year. The theme for the 2011 Regional Conference was the "The Power of One!’ This conference affords opportunities for student leaders from the region to exchange ideas and receive leadership training and skills. Delegates return to their clubs to inspire and challenge their local member.

Those attending the conference from the high school were: Mariah Broadnax, Shannon Lacey, Austin Stout, Jordan Satterlee, Blakelee Cooper, Jacob Durrett, and Olivia Lowry

Those attending from the middle school were: Jacob Satterlee, Chyenne Sanders, Megan Haynie and Terance Croslin.

Accompanying the students were sponsors Diane Harmon and Susan Lowry.
