ALL IT NEEDED WAS FLAKES

Home For The Holidays Parade winners announced

POSTED November 28, 2011 9:41 a.m.

With an innovative entry in which cars were decorated as reindeer and a truck converted into a sleigh, the Mid-American Mopar Car Club took theme honors in the 2011 Home for the Holidays Parade Saturday evening in downtown Great Bend. The theme was “Let it Snow.”
The crowd lined Main Street, many huddled under blankets bracing against the stiff north wind and the winter-like cold. They watched as the entries made their way along the route with lights twinkling.
Judges had their work cut out for them as they ranked 32 entrants for overall presentation and theme. Judges Tina Koochal, Jean Pringle and Lori Walters said the quality of all the entrants was exceptional.  The enthusiasm from participants and spectators made for a fantastic event on a blustery evening that only lacked a few snowflakes.
“Sunflower Diversified Services wishes to thank all the award sponsors, after-parade event sponsors, participants, volunteers, and spectators,” said Sunflower’s Sarah Krom who helped organize the event. “The event was great and enjoyed by all.”
