Lady Oilers open season with win

CLAFLIN — The Central Plains High School girls’ basketball team jumped ahead by the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Oilers added to their lead in each following period to beat Hoisington 45-34 in their first game since consolidating Quivira Heights and Claflin.
Central Plains was led by Katie Hipp, who scored 12 points and went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Sydney Rugan added nine points.
The Lady Cardinals were led by Mallory Flagor, who finished with nine points. Sophomore point guard Jordin Greer was right behind her with eight points.
