Marguerite M. Schneider 1935-2011

OLMITZ — Marguerite M. Schneider, 76, died Dec. 3 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Sept. 28, 1935 in LaCrosse, she was the daughter of William O. and Clara (Busch) Maneth. On Oct. 4, 1955 she married Marvin L. Schneider in LaCrosse. They were married 56 years. A lifetime resident of Olmitz, she was a homemaker, a writer for the Hoisington Dispatch, worked for the Rush County News, and farmed in both Barton and Rush Counties. She was a "reading Grandma" at the Otis-Bison Elementary school, a blood donor, and an avid quilter and seamstress.

Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Altar Society, and the St. Ann’s Church Centennial Committee. She was a church organist for 46 years.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin L. Schneider of the home; two sons, Steve Schneider and wife Tammie of Olmitz, and John Schneider and wife Stacy of Otis; six daughters, Donna Huff and Don Bradbury, of Ellis, Rita Pivonka, of Great Bend, Sharon Royer, of Otis, Karen Pechanec and husband Jim and Paula Tammen and husband Reggie, both of Timken, and Susan Myrick and husband Rick, of Hutchinson; four sisters, Lorraine Schneweis of Hoisington, Justina Hlavaty of Olmitz, Gertrude Staab of Victoria, and Gloria Bieker of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Francis Maneth of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Fritzler.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz with Celebrants Father Ultan Murphy and Father Nicholas Voelker. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Olmitz. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. today at the church in Olmitz with a wake service starting at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Ann’s Church, Rush County Fair Association, Kans for Kids or donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
