Emanuel T. “Tim” Sauber 1932 - 2011

HUTCHINSON — Emanuel T. "Tim" Sauber, 79, died Dec. 22 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born April 12, 1932, in Raymond, the son of Peter M. and Frances (Hoffman) Sauber. He was a 1950 graduate of Ellinwood High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. On May 18, 1957, he married Bettie A. Anderson at St. Joseph Church in Ellinwood. She survives. Emanuel retired from Cessna after 34 years as an industrial engineer and then worked for Trinity Junior and Senior High School for 20 years. Emanuel loved golfing, fishing and working on his lawn.

Mr. Sauber was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a 2nd Class Electrician. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, Veterans of Foreign Wars Bob Campbell Post 1361, and was a cub master and scout master for Troop 303 for 17 years.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie; four sons, Ronald, Brian and Gary Sauber, all of Wichita and Darold Sauber, of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, James Sauber of Ellinwood; nine grandchildren; and one step-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Huslig; two brothers, Lawrence and Ambrose Sauber; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Sauber.

Parish rosary will be 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Church of the Holy Cross. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Hospice House or to the church in care of the mortuary.
