Leonard C. Oborny 1937 - 2012

RUSH CENTER — Leonard C. Oborny, 74, died Jan. 29 at his home in Rush Center. Born Dec. 29, 1937, in La Crosse, he was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Kladik) Oborny. In 1955 he graduated from La Crosse Rural High School. On Jan. 6, 1959, he married Alice R. Nordman at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was a service tire repairman for Farmer’s Co-op in Rush Center.

Mr. Oborny was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken and a lifetime member of the Holy Trinity Choir.

Survivors include his wife, of Rush Center; three sons, Eugene C. Oborny and his companion Cindy Martin of La Crosse, David Oborny and his wife Kassey of Rush Center, and Paul A. Oborny and his wife Wanda of Hays; a daughter, Leona Benedict and her husband Larry of Ness City; a sister, Betty Skillett of Hays; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Joshua Black; five brothers, John Oborny, Baby Charles Oborny, Charles Oborny, Larry Oborny, and Louis Oborny; and two sisters, Mary Ann Nather, and Agnes Pechanec.

Great Bend (Kan.) Tribune, Jan. 31, 2012

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken with Father Pascal Klein officiating. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Timken. Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse with family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m., followed by a vigil service and rosary at 7 p.m., and from 9-9:50 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Rush County EMTs in La Crosse or the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken.
