POSTED February 4, 2012 1:58 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Edwin Quentin Button of Springfield, Mo., died peacefully on Dec. 9. 2011 with friends and family at his side.
The beloved son of the late Ralph and Margaret Button, Ed is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Ann Button (Rivest), Franksville, Wis.; Jan Button, Lamar, Mo.; and Patricia Button, Albuquerque, N.M.; former wife Patsy Ann Haynes, Olathe; cousin Stephanie Ames, Salina; and nephews George and Marc and nieces Lynda, Sue and Janice and their families. He was also a beloved friend to many.
Ed will be remembered by friends and family for his kindness, his storytelling ability, his humor, for being an avid golfer, and for his tremendous musical ability. He could hear a song once and play it on the keyboard. But his true devotion was to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and its teachings.
Ed was a devoted member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Springfield, Mo. and served in many capacities including First Reader.  His service for Church and others merits him the benediction from Matthew 25: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant:  thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of Christ, Scientist, 960 S. Eastgate, Springfield, Mo. 65809, the Salvation Army, or Habitat for Humanity.
