Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made five ambulance runs Friday, six Saturday and two Sunday.

At 3:23 p.m. Friday they responded to 280 SW 50 Road, where a controlled burn had gotten out of control. "The wind changed directions and started some corn stubble on fire," Chief Mike Napolitano said. The fire was contained with no property loss.

At 5:15 p.m. Friday they responded to an unauthorized burn at 2519 17th St., where someone was burning leaves in the back yard.
