ELLINWOOD — Shirley Anne DeWerff, 78, died April 1, 2012, after a battle with cancer at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born April 24, 1933 at Great Bend, the daughter of Edwin and Dorothy (Heater) Corbett.
Her husband, Harold Lloyd “Moldy” DeWerff, 71, died May 26, 2008, after a battle with cancer at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born June 25, 1936, at Canon City, Colo., the son of Harold E. and Ruth (Koch) DeWerff.
Harold Lloyd DeWerff and Shirley Anne (Corbett) were married July 10, 1965 at Larned.
A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, Mr. DeWerff was an oilfield chemical salesman and worked for Thies Packing.
A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, Mrs. DeWerff was a homemaker and had worked as an appraiser for Barton County.
Shirley loved and collected antiques and dolls and appeared on the Antiques Roadshow. They were both of the Christian Faith.
Survivors include two sons, Scott DeWerff and wife Laura, Great Bend; Patrick Wirtz, Salina; two daughters, Connie Potts and husband Ronald, Ellinwood; Lisa McMullen and husband Jim, Ellinwood; Harold’s sister, Carol Clawson, Ellinwood; Harold’s brothers, Dale DeWerff, Wichita; Dallas DeWerff, Oklahoma; Shirley’s sister, Janice Cormier and husband Cliff, Topeka; Shirley’s brother, Robert Corbett, Katy, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis DeWerff and his twin brother, Floyd DeWerff.
Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Corbett; and a sister, Phyllis Cook.
Private family graveside services have been held at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood with The Reverend Debra Rains officiating. Interment was held at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood.
