Story comes full circle Fallen soldier remembered

The Marine Reserve Honor Guard from Wichita perform a flag folding ceremony for the family of Thomas Edward Cooney in Ellinwood on Monday. Captain died in service to his country in 1950. His remains have never been returned to his home.

ELLINWOOD — A story that began almost 100 years ago with the birth of Thomas Edward Cooney on July 24, 1917 in Ellinwood, came full circle this Memorial Day weekend, when his life and his service to his country were remembered and celebrated.
