Four primaries scheduled for August

Republican candidates vie for sheriff, treasurer and county commission ballots; district judge

Barton County will have primaries for three positions in August to determine which candidates’ names will appear on the November ballot.
County Election Officer Donna Zimmerman said all three primaries are for Republican candidates. The date of the election has not bet set; it could be as early as Aug. 7 but may be later due to redistricting issues. “We’re waiting for the judge’s decision,” Zimmerman said, noting senate and representative districts may change. The Legislature draws new district maps every 10 years.
