Former Cardinals head coach dies

Former Hoisington head football coach Lonnie Irvin passed away on Thursday. Irvin, who reportedly had health issues the past couple years, coached Hoisington from 1997-2010, compiling a 82-58 record, one of the winningest eras in school history. From 2005 to 2009, Irvin’s Cardinals went 43-10 and advanced to the Class 3A state playoffs each season, highlighted by 10-2,  9-2 and 9-1 campaigns. Irvin's funeral is set for Monday.
