Pursuit ends in standoff

Officers use tear gas to force suspect from vehicle

HOISINGTON – A speeding car led to a pursuit that ended at a Hoisington service station with a standoff and the use of tear gas Wednesday night, Barton County Sheriff Greg Armstrong said.

According to the sheriff, between 8:30 and 9 p.m., a Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted a vehicle speeding north on U.S. 281 south of Hoisington. The officer gave chase, starting near the Lake Barton area.
