Clarence J. Burns 90th

Clarence J. Burns will celebrate his 90th birthday on Sept. 30 with a family celebration hosted by his children, Harlan and Barbara Davenport, Steve and Linda White and Tom and Kay Burns.
Clarence was born and raised in Fowler, graduating from Fowler High School in 1941. He was drafted into the Army infantry during World War II and was a German POW. Clarence moved to Great Bend in 1945 following the war to work for the Dominican Sisters, at the St. Rose Hospital linen department. He completed 50 years at Central Kansas Medical Center, retiring as Linen Supervisor in October, 1996. In 1947, he married Elizabeth Graham. They moved to the farm south of Great Bend in the early 1950s. He continues to live and work on the family farm, enjoying his flock of chickens and baby calves.
