Gloria “Jean” Ruble    1923-2012

HOISINGTON — Gloria “Jean” Ruble, 89, died Oct. 5, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.  Born Sept. 11, 1923 at Hominy, Okla., she was the daughter of David H. and Bea (Maxwell) Cook.  She moved to Paola, KS in 1930 and then to Hoisington at the age of 13. She has been a resident of Hoisington for the rest of her life.  
On March 23, 1947, she married Howard. L. Ruble at Hoisington.  He died May 21, 2001.  Jean worked for her father at the D. H. Cook Oil and Well Service for 30 years managing the office and bookkeeping.  She became a member of Business Professional Women and was an active member of the United Methodist Church and past president of United Methodist Women. Jean had many hobbies and talents but her favorites were china painting and art work.
Survivors include one sister, Peggy Johnson of Dixon, Mo., a brother-in-law, Ed Ruble of Hoisington, and 15 nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dave “Bill” Cook, and two sisters, Theda Sellens and Susie Taylor.
A graveside service is planned for 2:30 p.m.,  Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Hoisington Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Kris Brinlee. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to Noon, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.  Interment will be at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington.  Memorials may be made to United Methodist Women in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Box 146, Hoisington, KS  67544.  Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at
