Mother Nature again wreaking havoc

A winter storm in late April?

That was the case in Great Bend Monday night, as an unseasonably cold, wintry blast descended on the Golden Belt. The temperature dipped below 32 degrees, the winds kicked in and ice pellets were visible. By this morning, there was a substantial amount of snow on the ground.

It wiped out virtually the entire sports schedule today.

As of 9:10 this morning, the Great Bend High School swim team's trip to Hutchinson for a 3:30 p.m. meet was still on.
