Council limits vehicle access to old city dump

At the northeast corner of the Ellinwood old city dump only, parking for those seeking access to the Arkansas River bottom will be allowed according to new city ordinance.

ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood City Council, as its regular monthly meeting, voted to limit access to the old city dump due to liability issues.
Ellinwood’s old landfill was closed about 30 years ago but old broken glass and concrete has worked its way to the surface.
“My whole thing is about what we are responsible for,” said City Administrator Bob Peter. “I have concerns about liability.”
