Thunderstorm watch issued Monday night

The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a thunderstorm watch for Barton County and nearby counties — Edwards, Ellis, Ellsworth, Hodgeman, Ness, Pawnee, Rice, Russell and Stafford.
Thunderstorms were expected to develop and become widespread tonight. The primary risk will be heavy rainfall, leading to more flooding problems. Numerous county flood and river warnings remain in effect. The change of rain is calculated at 90 percent.
Heat indices of 100 to 105 degrees are possible for southern Kansas for Tuesday.
