Traffic lights to begin flashing with the start of classes

As yellow lights in school zones around the city begin to flash next week, motorists must be aware that if they don’t want to see lights of a patrol car flashing, they should take care.
Starting Monday, some of the lighted school zone warning signals will be turned on as many of the schools in Great Bend open  their 2013-2014 academic year.
“When those lights are flashing, it means the 20-mile-per-hour speed limit is in force,” said officer Jefferson Davis of the Great Bend Police Department. This is regardless of what the normal limit is for the area.
