​Miller found competent to stand trial

A Barton County judge has ruled that LaVeta Dawn Miller is competent to stand trial on charges of stealing money that was intended to pay for World War II veterans’ trips to Washington, D.C.
A ruling from District Judge Ron Svaty was filed last Friday, in response to an evaluation requested by Miller’s attorney, Robert Anderson Sr. of Ellinwood. “The defendant is competent to stand trial and assist her attorney in her defense,” the ruling stated.
