Lady Panthers split matches at Newton triangular

NEWTON — The newly-ranked Great Bend High School volleyball team split matches at a Newton triangular on Thursday evening.
The Lady Panthers, who are No. 8 in Class 5A in the latest Kansas Volleyball Association poll, defeated Newton in three sets, but fell to 2A No. 1-ranked Hillsboro in three sets.
Great Bend topped Newton 14-25, 25-19 and 25-12.
Great Bend head coach Kelsey Perry said that it was Newton’s senior night, and that she expected the host to be fired up.
