Judge denies change-of-venue request in LSH patient case

TOPEKA — A judge denied a state attorney’s change-of-venue request in a lawsuit that involves the 2011 death of a patient at Larned State Hospital.
Shawnee County District Court Judge Larry Hendricks ruled the case would remain in Shawnee County. The hearing lasted about 40 minutes.
Lawyers representing the hospital and two of its psychiatrists had asked that the proceedings be moved to Pawnee County, where Larned State Hospital is located.
