HAYS — Things were looking up for the Great Bend High School boys’ basketball team with 10 minutes remaining on the clock.
The Panthers were able to overcome a nine-point deficit heading into halftime to close the game to within two points.
However, Newton had other plans, shutting down the Panthers offense in the final eight minutes of play to win 55-29 in the Hays City Shootout, finishing in fifth place.
