Cardinals crush round robin

STAFFORD — The Hoisington High School wrestling team won five duels on Thursday evening at the Stafford Round Robin.
The Cardinals, who are ranked No. 7 in Class 3-1A in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association poll, topped Nickerson 57-10, Lincoln 58-18, Stafford 54-12, Chaprral 53-19 and Bluestem 64-18.
Brandon Ball, who is ranked No. 1 in 132, won three matches, two by pin.
No. 2-ranked Avery Urban won in 195 also won three matches. Both won the other two matches by forfeit.
Hoisington travels to Hays on Saturday, Jan. 24, to open the Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic.
