Ellinwood trash truck in need of repair

ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood City Council  heard at its meeting last week that a side loading trash truck is in need of repair.
City Administrator Bob Peter reported that the engine in the truck which was purchased in 2006 for $72,000 should have lasted for 15 years, but the engine will have to be replaced.
The cost of a rebuilt engine is $28,000 to $30,000. Peter had fluids from the engine and transmission sent off for analysis, and is looking into prices for a rebuilt engine versus a new engine. The council also discussed if twice a week ...
