Genola McCarter 1923-2014

CAMERON, Mo. — Genola McCarter, 90, a long-time resident of Great Bend, passed away on Jan. 31 at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Cameron, Mo. Born July 2, 1923, in La Crosse, she was the daughter of David Nelson and Esther (Searl) Sankey.  After graduating high school in La Crosse, she attended Grace Hospital Nursing School in Hutchinson.  She joined the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1943, was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the Army Nurse Corps and served at O’ Reilly General Army Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
