HOISINGTON — Walter Lee Meharg, 87, passed away March 9, 2014 in Alva, Okla. at Beadles Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1926, the son of the son of Florence (Ross) and Ray Meharg, in Fairfield Township in Russell County, Kan.
He was a proud member of the United States Army serving during WWII in the K-9 Corp. He acquired a lifelong love for dogs and worked as a 4-H dog training instructor. On March 23, 1944, Walter married Ruth Kaps in Bunker Hill. To their marriage three children, Marsha, Randy and Connie were born.
