Great Plains Methodists respond to tornado

WICHITA — Disaster response is underway in Baxter Springs. Great Plains Conference Disaster Response Coordinator Linda Stewart and the disaster response chair, Steve Burnett, are working with the Rev. Wayne Handle of the First United Methodist Church, in Baxter Springs, and multiple agencies to coordinate rescue, relief and recovery efforts.
A tornado touched down in the southeast Kansas town on April 28. The Associated Press reports no one was killed but 25 people were injured and at least 100 homes and businesses were damaged.
