SRS to accept applications for Low Income Energy Assistance Program

TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) through Thursday, March 3. The program opened Thursday.

LIEAP provides an annual benefit to help qualifying households pay winter heating bills. Individuals with disabilities, elderly persons, and families with children are the primary groups assisted. In 2010, 50,946 households received an average benefit of $714.92.
