Showers, thunderstorms may develop Wednesday night

Severe storms with ping pong ball sized hail and damaging winds are expected over parts of central Kansas roughly along and west of Highway 14 late Wednesday evening. Barton County has a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday evening.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop in central Kansas possibly as early as late Wednesday afternoon, but more likely in the evening. These storms will decrease in intensity overnight as they spread east. The primary threat will be locally heavy rain and damaging winds. Nickle to quarter sized hail is also possible.
