Area trooper arrested on domestic violence charges

KHP trooper faces charges of felony assault, battery and witness intimidation

A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper from Great Bend was arrested Thursday evening on a felony warrant for allegedly threatening his wife with a handgun on March 12, 2013.
Trooper Darrin Duane Hirsh was booked at the Barton County jail on the warrant for aggravated assault, two counts of criminal threat, domestic battery, two counts of witness intimidation and two counts of violation of a protective order. He posted a $50,000 surety bond and was released.
A Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokesperson in Great Bend confirmed the arrest Friday morning.
