Smoke detected Wed. evening at Holy Family School

Great Bend Fire Department was called to Holy Family School at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday, after school staff noticed smoke coming from an air conditioner in the kindergarten classroom.
Firefighters arrived at the school, located at 4200 Broadway, and noted the smoke was coming from the fresh air intake vent on an air conditioner on the southwest corner of the building. They were assisted by school maintenance personnel in shutting off the electricity for the AC unit, which eliminated the fire hazard.
