KBI continues probe of fatal shootout

The name of a Barton County man who died Saturday after a shoot-out with law enforcement officers was released Monday.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been asked to lead the investigation.
A Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper and a Barton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy were placed on administrative leave, “as is customary during officer involved shootings,”  according to a statement released Tuesday by KBI spokesman Mark Malick. Their identities were not released.
George L. Carson, 71, died as a result of wounds he received after reportedly exchanging gunfire with officers, who were not injured.
