Students look back on LIFE

A graduation and awards ceremony of sorts took place last week at Eisenhower Elementary School. The caps were made of purple paper, and the red "carpet" that graduates walked was also paper.

TALKING TURKEY

It was time to talk turkey this week at the Great Bend Recreation Commission. After-school art classes offered at Lincoln, Jefferson and Eisenhower elementary schools allowed children 5-12 years old to create "button turkey" wall decorations.

Great Bend Police investigated two injury accidents last Saturday on 10th Street. Neither involved life-threatening injuries, according to the police reports which were released Wednesday.

First Baptist Church offers Thanksgiving lunch for anyone in need

Great Bend's First Baptist Church, 1600 19th St., will provide free Thanksgiving meals to anyone who needs them. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. "or until we run out of food" on Thursday, Nov. 24, said LiAnna Keith at First Baptist.

Commissioners re-elected

Two Barton County Commissioners were re-elected Tuesday. With no opponents on the ballot, Republicans Homer Kruckenberg and Don Davis won easily, although Kruckenberg did face a write-in opponent in Sharon Wondra.
