​Judge hears Tribune request, issues gag order

An attorney representing the Great Bend Tribune appeared before Barton County District Judge Ron Svaty on Friday, explaining the newspaper's earlier request for the release of probable cause affidavits in the arrests of three men charged with first-degree murder. He did not immediately rule on the Tribune's, motion.

Library collects more than 300 food items

Overdue books paid off for the Barton County Food Bank when the Great Bend Public Library offered to accept food donations in lieu of fines for the entire month of December. Patrons were invited to bring in one non-perishable food item for every $1 in fees owed to the library.

Drugs found in three Hoisington homes

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Police Department ended 2015 and started 2016 by executing search warrants for narcotics. Warrants served on three different residences resulted in multiple arrests over the last two weeks, and the seizure of suspected drugs and paraphernalia.
