Last week the Kansas House of Representatives passed HB 2453, described as an act "protecting religious freedom regarding marriage." Nationally, it was described as an "anti-gay marriage proposal." By Tuesday, the chairman of a state Senate committee assigned to review the bill pronounced it dead.

Four feared dead after plane from Great Bend crashes in Tennessee

A private airplane that flew out of the Great Bend Municipal Airport on Monday afternoon crashed and burned around 5 p.m. in a field near Nashville, Tenn. There were no survivors, according to Tennessee news sources such as, which also reported that the Gulfstream 690C was registered to Mid-Kansas Agri-Co in Pawnee Rock.
