Elks Lodge to hold hog feed

The Elks Lodge, 1120 Kansas Ave., will have a hog feed with all the trimmings on Saturday, Nov. 14, featuring a hog cooked by Ed Crosby of Larned. It is open to the public and should use the north dining door off 12th Street.

Zoo News: Staff concentrates on cleanup

With the announcement that it will no longer pursue AZA accreditation for the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo, the city has opted not to replace its zoo director or curator. However, City Administrator Howard Partington said the city remains committed to having a quality zoo, with or without the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

The jury heard closing arguments Tuesday and will begin deliberations Wednesday morning in the trial of Jacob Ryan Davis. He is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, stemming from an altercation that happened around 2 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2014, at Charlie's Place bar in Great Bend.
